1. Life is never just plain sailing;
even when our Lord is near,
right here in the same boat with us,
we are not immune to fear.
When the waves are crashing 'round us
we are not immune to fear.

2.  Waves of doubt and waves of torment,
hardships come wave after wave,
falling markets, unemployment,
sleepless nights and anxious days,
Swine Flu, cancer, floods and fi-re,
Will we drown beneath these waves?

3.  We are not immune to suff'ring,
even with our Lord right here;
yet he speaks, and he is saying:
"Trust me! Trust me! I am near.
I will never, never leave you..."
Hear the voice that calms all fear.

Based on the Gospel reading from the Revised Common Lectionary (B)
for 3 rd Sunday after Pentecost:

Mark 4:35-41
