Suggested Tune WE GIVE THEE BUT THINE OWN (S.M.)

1.  The worries and concerns
that rob us of our rest
reveal our hearts - look close and learn -
this is a worthy test.

2.  So let our trust be true
for God is true indeed
and He provides for me and you
exactly what we need.

3.  Our greatest hunger He will feed
and quench our deepest thirst
He will ignore our selfish greed
and meet our real needs first.

4.  With humble hearts then trust:
we will have what we need!
So what we do not have then must
be what we do not need.

5.  Our God will not forget
the children of her heart
She nurtures us at her own breast
her riches to impart

(Optional: Depending on your congregation, you may find it safer to go with the traditional to use masculine pronouns in the last verse! And before anybody lynches me - the "mother" imagery is straight from this week's lections!)

Based on Revised Common Lectionary (A) for 8th Sunday in ordinary time:

Isaiah 49:8-16a
Psalm 131
I Corinthians 4:1-5
Matthew 6:24-34
