1. O Great High Priest, what sacrifices you have made;
you put aside the glory that was yours.
We were not there when you the Earth's foundations laid,
or shaped the hills, or gave the mountains form.
So who are we that you should look and see us here,
and who are we that you should know our plight?
And yet we know you understand our every tear,
It was for us, for us you suffered and you died.

2.  O Great High Priest, you carried our iniquities,
wounded for us, your sheep that went astray.
Oh so unjust, that you should die so cruelly,
yet like a lamb we slaughtered you that day.
Out of your anguish we now see your holy light,
and understand the price your blood has paid:
in death you poured yourself out to give sinners life;
it was for us, for us the sacrifice was made.

3.  O Great High Priest, what joy to find our refuge here,
here in the shelter of your angels' wings;
though we may drink from your same cup of bitter tears,
it cannot drown the praises we will sing.
So pour us out and pour us out till we have nought;
Though we lose all, one thing will yet remain:
There is no power can take away what Jesus bought;
The life He gives, He gives eternally the same.
