1. Light at last dispels our shadows;
Do you see the Light? Our Light has come!
Endlessly we stumbled blindly,
longing for the Light, our light to come.
Now with angels sing the story:
Let us raise happy praise to His Name;
Sing His honour and His glory;
revel in the Light of holy joy!

2.  Name the Child so freely given:
everlasting King and Prince of Peace!
Born to break oppression's burden
and to pay the price for our release,
founding righteousness and justice;
Wonderful Counsellor; Mighty God!
Light of Light dispel our darkness:
Let us not oppress or be oppressed!

3.  How we ache for Peace once promised
as we hear the boots of tramping War;
Blood stained garments, crime and violence:
when is it enough? How long? How far?
Son of David (once a warrior),
Prince of Peace, hear our pleas: bring us peace!
In our hearts now embryonic
grows the everlasting reign of Peace.

4.  Worldly passions' changing fashions:
cruelly they stir each hungry urge;
Fill our hearts instead with passion
yearning for your Kingdom come on Earth.
Once we learn to want what's wanted
We will see that we need only You!
Light at last dispels our shadows:
Now we see the light, our Light has come!
